Texas Utility Company Gross Receipts Tax

Generally, each utility company that makes a sale to an ultimate consumer in an incorporated city or town with a population of over 1,000 people is subject to tax at the following rates:

(1)   .581% of the gross receipts from an incorporated city or town having a population between 1,000 and 2,500 people

(2)   1.07% of the gross receipts from an incorporated city or town having a population between 2,500 and 10,000 people;

(3)   1.997% of the gross receipts from an incorporated city or town having a population of 10,000 or more people.
